Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
