Hamas representatives and Israeli delegates commence mediated discussions in Egypt on the US Gaza peace plan.

Conflict zone News Agency
Military operations persist in an offensive in Palestinian territories for weeks.

Indirect talks working toward a lasting settlement on a Trump administration initiative to halt hostilities in Gaza have commenced in the Red Sea resort of the negotiation site.

Palestinian and Egyptian officials have indicated that the discussions are concentrating on "preparing the environment" for a potential swap that would result in the liberation of all Israeli hostages in compensation of a number of incarcerated individuals.

The group stated it agrees to the peace plan proposals partially, but has not responded to several essential conditions - including its military demobilization and governance position in Gaza.

The Israeli leader said on the weekend that he expected to reveal the freeing of detained individuals "soon"

Background Context

The talks, which will involve Egyptian and Qatari officials conducting mediation with representatives from both the two sides separately, occur on the eve of the 24-month point of the military operation on border communities on the initial attack date, in which about 1,200 people were fatally wounded and 251 people were captured.

The Israeli military initiated operations in Gaza in retaliation. Following the initial attack, 67,160 have been lost their lives by Israeli military operations in Gaza, based on data from the area's Hamas-run health ministry.

Peace Plan Details

The 20-point plan, which has been endorsed by US President Donald Trump and Israeli officials, suggests an quick halt to hostilities and the liberation of 48 detained individuals, only 20 of whom are believed to be surviving, in return for multiple hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

The plan stipulates that once both sides agree to the plan "full aid will be promptly delivered into the Palestinian territory"

It also declares that Hamas would have no involvement in administering the territory, and it allows for an future Palestinian sovereignty.

Current Situation

Recently, officials replied to the initiative in a statement, in which the group consented "to release all Israeli prisoners, both alive and killed, following the exchange formula contained in the American plan" - if the required situation for the exchanges are satisfied.

It omitted reference to or approve the detailed initiative but said it "restates its approval to relinquish the administration of the Palestinian territory to a Palestinian body of technocrats, based on regional unity and Arab and Islamic support"

The statement failed to address of one of the essential conditions of the proposal – that the organization accept its weapons surrender and to ceasing political participation in the administration of Gaza.

Regional Reactions

Gaza inhabitants characterized the organization's answer to the negotiation initiative as unexpected, after multiple days of signals that the group was considering denial or at least heavily condition its approval of Trump's peace plan proposal.

Conversely, the organization omitted its traditional "red lines" in the public announcement, a decision many consider a evidence of external pressure.

European and Middle Eastern leaders have endorsed the plan. The Palestinian Authority, which administers sections of the Palestinian territories, has characterized the Trump administration actions as "authentic and resolute"

The Islamic Republic - which has been one of the group's primary supporters for many years - has also now signalled its endorsement of the US proposal.

Current Situation

Israeli bombardment continued in several parts of the conflict zone on Monday ahead of the negotiations starting.

Israeli forces is conducting an military operation in the metropolitan region, which it has stated is designed to securing the release of the remaining hostages.

Mahmoud Basal, speaking for Gaza's local emergency services, reported that "no aid trucks have been authorized access for the metropolitan area since the offensive began four weeks ago"

"Victims remain we cannot access from zones under Israeli control" he commented.

Numerous individuals of Gaza City have been required to leave after the Israeli military mandated relocations to a specified safe zone in the southern region, but additional numerous individuals are believed to have remained.

The defense representative has warned that those who remain during the offensive would be "militants and their backers"

In the last 24 hours, 21 residents have been fatally injured in Gaza and a another 96 injured, the regional health administration said in its current assessment.

Global media representatives have been prohibited by Israel from entering the Gaza Strip autonomously since the commencement of the hostilities, making confirming reports from both sides difficult.
