Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
