News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.

A Major Return to Panem

Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their cameos will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, as the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.

This marks the sixth installment in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.

The film's events are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

The film welcomes several prominent actors in pivotal roles:

• Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
